The Brain Research Institute has a state-of-the-art 3 tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facility (including two MRI scanners) primarily for research of the human brain. Research projects undertaken at the institute include development of image acquisition and analysis techniques. Such technical development projects usually require students of one or more of physics, mathematics, computer science, informatics, engineering and statistics. Other research at the institute includes application of techniques recently developed, to answer both basic science and clinical research questions. These projects often require students of one or more of neurology, neuroscience, psychology, physiology and medical imaging. A limited number of top-up scholarships are currently on offer, on a competitive basis to suitable candidates, for the specific projects listed below to be undertaken at BRI. It is expected that candidates undertaking research in basic science and engineering disciplines will have a first or high second-class honours degree. International students should note that BRI scholarships do not cover the substantial international student fees levied by Australian universities (see for example University of Melbourne international student fees), however many universities have a limited number of competitive fee-waiver scholarships (see for example University of Melbourne Information for international applicants). Lists of projects currently available at BRI can be found via the links below.
Formal applications should include: a) A curriculum vitae All applications for scholarships should be forwarded to: Scholarships Officer |
